Abstract

Training in professional values has become increasingly important in debates on education and work worldwide. International organizations such as UNESCO, ECLAC and the OEI have stressed the importance of integrating ethical, social and civic values into training processes. UNESCO has stressed that integral education should promote values such as solidarity, tolerance and respect for diversity, thus helping to strengthen social cohesion and sustainable development. For its part, ECLAC linked education for values to economic and social development in Latin America and the Caribbean, stressing that the absence of values such as honesty and transparency can lead to corruption and inequality. From this perspective, the OEI has promoted values education as a fundamental tool for building citizenship and strengthening educational systems in Ibero-America, arguing that integrating values into educational processes can improve academic performance and facilitate integration into the labor market.
