Influence of the reading mediator in educational institutions

Abstract
The low rates of reading and writing have a significant impact on the learning levels of students who are formed in the educational centers of our country, thus the need for training mediators in reading arises, being its main objective to strengthen reading habits through the development of dynamic workshops in the proposal of a project of linkage with the community, The sample chosen for this study has been intentional, with a descriptive research design, through a research instrument (ex ante and ex post surveys) that was carried out in 992 high school students located in 21 cities of Ecuador and with the active participation of 65 students of the Language and Literature career of the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja in its distance learning modality. The results obtained have been satisfactory in spite of the difficulties presented by the pandemic situation, but it has served to discover and invent new ways of learning. Finally, this research has served to highlight the importance of the role of a reading mediator in the process: before, during and after reading, helping students to reach their potential as readers.
