Oil price effect on Ecuadorian economic activity: ardl estimation period 2000 - 2019
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article analyzes the impact that its main commodity, oil, has on the Ecuadorian economic activity index during the period 2000-2019. Therefore, the main objective was to estimate the relationship between these two variables using an autoregressive model of distributed lags and the Pesaran, Shin and Smith cointegration methodology. The results found showed that there is a small and positive but statistically significant relationship in the short run, while in the long run the effect of the exogenous variable on economic activity is negative.
