The use of ICT, due to the arrival of Covid-19, challenges in higher education in Perú

Abstract

The beginning of COVID - 19, in China in 2019, spread worldwide, declaring a health alert in March 2020; the pandemic affected approximately one thousand five hundred million students, the authorities took immediate measures; resorting to the use of information and communication technologies (ICT), to continue with higher education; The objective of the study is to know the actions of the authorities to face the health emergency and, the transition from face-to-face teaching to remote emergency, in a public university. It was possible to identify the norms and actions to guarantee health, education and the economy, of teachers, students and family. The article is based on a qualitative research, documentary type. The problem faced by university higher education was the little development of digital capacity of the majority of teachers, lack of equipment and infrastructure, and the adequacy of students to receive classes at home. Concluding that the pandemic hit many families due to the death of relatives, health problems, lack of employment and weakened the economy, but, in education, it allowed to shorten the digital gap that existed. ICTs, not stopping education and being connected with the globalized world, for personal, group and country development.
