IRON DEFICIENCY ANEMIA IN CHILDREN UNDER 36 MONTHS

Abstract
According to the WHO, Anemia affects more than two billion people worldwide (25%) of the world population; In Peru, according to the ENDES 2019 survey, it affects 40.1% of children between 6 and 35 months. This is a public health problem.
The objective of the study is to evaluate the prevalence of iron deficiency anemia in children under 36 months, which will serve in the prevention and treatment of anemia. A systematic review of the scientific literature was carried out in Google Scholar, CINHAL, PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library and Scopus. PubMed, ScienceDi-rect, Crossref, Directory of Open Access Journals. 30 scientific articles were analyzed, prioritizing literatures from the period 2015-2021, in English, in the field of medical sciences. The magnitude of anemia in children under 36 months of age is extremely high, due to their high growth rate and high iron requirements, in addition to low iron diets. In developing countries there is greater coverage of iron supplementation and fortification programs, as well as periodic deworming, adequate feeding with diversified foods, and training for mothers on anemia.
