The importance of sport in preventing sedentary lifestyles and promoting healthy habits in adolescents.

Abstract
Sedentary lifestyles represent a public health problem, primarily
affecting adolescents in Ecuador. The objective of this study is to
identify the importance of sports in preventing sedentary lifestyles and
promoting healthy habits in adolescents through regular physical
activity. A qualitative, descriptive, and retrospective approach was
used, employing a literature review and the PRISMA protocol to select
12 articles published between 2019 and 2025. The study identified that
organizations such as the WHO and UNICEF recommend 60 minutes
of daily physical activity for adolescents, ranging from moderate to
vigorous intensity, with a preference for aerobic strength training.
